Summary

The story begins with an ordinary young teenager (Josh) of a mix race family facing the usual problems and more from having darker skin growing up in predominately white New England town. After an incident with his father changes him, he discovers he has the ability much like Edgar Casey but with machinery, but this gift also came with a side effect of nightmare visions in his sleep. His ability is noticed by a scientist that works on a government secret project called (Serenity, reverse engineering downed alien spacecraft) when Josh goes to his home to repairs to his lawnmower. Professor Michaels (The Scientist) realizes how much Josh's ability would help the program recruits him. Josh a semi nerd at heart and a sci-fi enthusiast jumps at the opportunity; but as Josh and the professor's friend ship grew, so did the love between Josh and the professor's daughter. Josh unlocks technology in a relatively short amount of time, propelling the program quickly to the stars, building ships that can travel beyond light speed. Still haunted by terrible visions, unnoticeable to Josh, the more time he spent with the alien technology the colder his emotions became destroying his relationship with the professor's daughter. Only the death of his mother on Christmas night brings back from the edge of insanity; but those visions become terrifying reality when an experiment conducted by an old school nemesis goes horrible wrong creating a catastrophic event that If not stopped will consume the entire solar system. International intrigue erupt as the governments of the world scramble to cover-up the truth while spending Trillions to send a select few thousand humans on the newly constructed starships off to a known habbital world 20 light years away. Leaving Josh to save the world from the "Devils Eye"
