Author Biography

Rosemary Walker, RGN, BSc (Hons), FETC and Jill Rodgers, RGN, MSc, BA (Hons) worked for many years as diabetes specialist nurses in the UK, and they have both also written extensively and led national organizations there. In 2001 they set up In Balance Healthcare UK, a consultancy that provides skills-based training for health care professionals and people with diabetes. All their work, including this book, reflects their commitment to an empowerment approach to chronic disease care provision. David S. Schade MD is Chief of the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. He has been involved with research on diabetes for over 30 years and cares for many people with diabetes in his clinic. He has written over 250 publications and books on diabetes. The American Diabetes Association is the nation's leading nonprofit health organization providing diabetes research, information, and advocacy.
