Summary

This first-ever biography covers Daisuke Matsuzaka's first season with the Red Sox, and also his early career and childhood in Japan. The author recounts the high school tournament nine years ago in Koshien, where Matsuzaka pitched a complete game of 200 pitches and then won a game in relief the very next day. Word of that achievement reached the San Diego Padres president Larry Lucchino and executive Theo Epstein who, years later in Boston, joined forces to post a record $51-million posting fee for Matsuzaka from his team in Japan, and then signed him to a $50-million contract. It was a whirl of frenzied excitement for all parties, and this book will continue the excitement by detailing Matsuzaka's exploits in the 2007 postseason. A gripping story unlike any other in baseball!
