German / English description: Das auf der Vollversammlung 1994 angenommene Ergebnis eines mehrjahrigen Lehrgesprachs gilt (neben der Leuenberger Konkordie) als Basistext der Gemeinschaft Evangelischer Kirchen in Europa. Mit ihr haben die reformatorischen Kirchen erstmals eine gemeinsame Besinnung uber die Kirche und ihren Auftrag vorgelegt und ihr Verstandnis von aEinheit in versohnter Verschiedenheit grundlegend bestimmt. Ausgehend von Gottes Handeln in Christus als dem Grund der Kirche und deren Bestimmung als Zeugin des Heils wird uber die konkrete Gestalt der Kirchen, ihre Amter und die Auftrage der Christen in der Welt reflektiert. Das Dokument wurde Grundlage fur zahlreiche okumenische Gesprache. Fur die Neuausgabe wurde die englische Ubersetzung revidiert.
