Author Biography

Mordecai Richler was born in Montreal in 1931. He won the Commonwealth Prize, The Paris Review Humour Prize, and was nominated for an Academy Award for his screenplay for The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz. Barney's Version became a huge best-seller in Italy, where the author's name even entered the language, richleriano becoming a hip Italian slang term for "politically incorrect." Richler died in July 2001.
