Bela is rescued as a puppy and raised by a young woman and her mother in the Buda Hills overlooking Budapest.
He observes, listens, and learns about the world around him and his life is full and happy until tragedy strikes. Then he
must make a decision.
On one level a heart warming story told by a small dog during unsettled times. On another level it is a literary work with the Kafakesque element of first person narration by a domestic animal in which the existentialist perceptions of the dog form a critique of the human world.
The Dog's Tale draws on the Indian Panchtantra stories, the Buddhist Jatakas and tales of the Chinese Zodiac.
