The single stage procurement and contractual model, whereby the main contractor and subcontractors are selected and appointed only for the construction phase of a project, remains the dominant approach to construction procurement.There is, however, a substantial body of evidence reported from public and private sector case studies which demonstrate the advantages of early contractor involvement. Two Stage Procurement considers the case for adopting such a procurement strategy, the roles of the various parties involved, the obstacles often encountered and the advantages of this approach - such as speed, economy, getting the project right first time, cost and time predictability, and higher client satisfaction ratings.Illustrated with a range of case studies, this book will be essential reading for all middle and senior management in construction consultants, constructors and clients in both the public and private sectors. Author Biography

David Mosey is head of the Projects and Construction Group at Trowers & Hamlins, and is a specialist in UK/international construction and engineering law with over 30 years’ experience.  He advises project teams engaged on a wide range of building and infrastructure projects.

David has been described as a ‘partnering guru’ and has guided his clients through more than 200 partnered projects and programmes with values ranging from £1m to £800m.  He is the author of PPC2000, the first Standard Form of Project Partnering Contract, and co-author of both the SPC2000 Specialist Partnering Contract and the TPC2005 Term Partnering Contract.
