Author Biography

Alan M. Beck is a nationally recognized authority on how people and animals interact and has been a guest on many programs, including ABC's Nightline and National Public Radio. Dr. Beck directs Purdue University's Center for the Human-Animal Bond, developed to establish a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between people and their companion animals. Previously he directed animal programs for the New York City Department of Health for five years and was director of the Center for the Interaction of Animals and Society at the University of Pennsylvania for ten years
