Hermann Heiberg (1840-1910) war ein deutscher Schriftsteller. Heiberg machte eine Buchhandelslehre in Kiel. Er grndete einen Schulbuchverlag in Schleswig, den er aber bald aufgab. 1870 bernahm er die Leitung der Norddeutschen Zeitung in Berlin, bald darauf die der Spenerschen Zeitung in Leipzig. Spter bettigte er sich im Banken-, Versicherungs- und Hypothekenwesen und war viel auf Reisen. Sein erstes Buch, die Plaudereien mit der Herzogin von Seeland (1881), wurden ein groer Verkaufserfolg, und Heiberg machte die Schriftstellerei zu seinem Hauptberuf. 1892 zog er wieder nach Schleswig. Heiberg schrieb Romane und Novellen, in denen seine vielfltigen Lebenserfahrungen verarbeitet sind. Die deutschen Naturalisten betrachteten ihn als Vorbild. Zu Heibergs Werke gehren: Ernsthafte Geschichten (1883), Schriften (12 Bnde) (1885-1888), Eine Vornehme Frau (1886), Gesammelte Werke (18 Bnde) (1895- 1896), Apotheker Heinrich (ca. 1885), Todsnden (1891) und Charaktere und Schicksale (1901).
