Summary

Boris Savinkov: dandy murderer, deadly womanizer, inspirator of Camus, writer and high-flying Russian terrorist. His life and adventures seemed to be taken out of spies novels. This is the diary, the confession of George O'Brien, Savinkov transcript itself, preparing an attack against the general governor of Moscow, Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich. George, anti-hero worthy of Dostoevsky's novels and downright nihilistic, carefully planned the attack as he tormented the jealousy he feels for the husband of his lover. Policy and mysticism, love and sex, unscrupulous and cynical are combined in this novel to mark the lives of five members of the command, from which only death can stop the hanging or suicide.

Author Biography

Boris Savinkov was a Russian writer and revolutionary terrorist. As one of the leaders of the Fighting Organisation of the Socialist-Revolutionary Party, he was responsible for the most spectacular assassinations of imperial officials in 1904 and 1905. Boris Savinkov wrote several novels. His most famous are his autobiography Memoirs of a Terrorist and the loosely autobiographical novel Pale Steed. Savinkov's works raised huge controversy among SRs. Many of them disclaimed them as "spoofs" on terrorism. James Womack and Marian Womack are translators.
