A renowned writer receives a mysterious manuscript from a friendly bookseller. It is more than 200 pages long, typed, and dated 1957. The assignment is very specific: he must read it in less than 24 hours.
 
Intrigued, the novelist begins to read, and finds a story of secrets and betrayals told by Ángel Carvajal, a Spanish soldier who acted as a spy in North Africa.

Author Biography

José Carlos Somoza nació en La Habana en 1960 y se trasladóa Madrid con su familia cuando aún no había cumplidoun año. Estudio y ejerció la psiquiatría hasta que en 1994 pudo dedicarse por completo a la escritura. Entre sus novelas destacan Clara y la penumbra (Premio Fernando Lara 2001), La dama número trece, Zigzag, La llave del abismo (Premio Ciudad de Torrevieja 2007) o El cebo.
