Summary

As a result of a meticulous investigation, Terry Brighton reveals to us the legendary charge of the Light Brigade at the Battle of Balaclava, drawng upon the letters that the soldiers sent to their families, the archives of the various regiments that participated in the charge, the press of the time, the personal diaries, mostly unpublished, that the men and women of both sides (British and Russian) kept, and the written orders and records of the trials to which this episode gave rise.
 

Author Biography

Terry Brighton has a BA in political science and philosophy. He is currently curator of the Museum of the Queen's Lancers Regiment, the direct descendants of the 17th Lancers, who led the charge of the Light Brigade in Balaclava. He is a member of the Crimean War Research Society and has dedicated several years of arduous research to clarify the background, the conditions and the consequences of the Battle of Balaclava. Later he has written about three of the great military men of the Second World War, Montgomery, Patton and Rommel.
