Summary

Two young Bolshevik officials, Boris and Nikolai, who have made a pact to go on all their adventures together, arrive at the banks of the Amur river. There they meet Ludmila, a commander of a troop of women. Idealized and mythicized, both fall in love with the possibility of a wild love. 

Author Biography

Joseph Delteil is a writer and poet. His first book attracted the attention of surrealists such as Louis Aragon and André Breton. He lived in Paris and worked on the surrealist magazine, Littérature, and published Jeanne d’Arc which won the Prix Femina. In 1937 he left Paris to write and live in southern France.
