Since the 1950s Eric Rohmer has been one of the major presences in French cinema as critic and director. This book is a sophisticated engagement with his work in which Keith Tester argues that Rohmer is not the nave realist he is often claimed to be. Author Biography

KEITH TESTER is Professor of Cultural Sociology at the University of Portsmouth, UK, and has been Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the Thesis Eleven Centre for Critical Theory at LaTrobe University in Australia. He has published widely across the field of cultural sociology.
