Author Biography

Marcia Stewart is a Nolo editor and author, writing and editing books on landlord-tenant law, real estate, and other consumer issues. She is also a co-author of Nolo's Essential Guide to Buying Your First Home and Leases & Rental Agreements, published by Nolo.Ralph "Jake" Warner is widely recognized as a pioneer of the do-it-yourself law movement. Warner co-founded Nolo in 1972 and began publishing do-it-yourself law books written by him and his colleagues after numerous publishers rejected them. He is the author or co-author several other Nolo titles including Get a Life and Everybody's Guide to Small Claims Court. Janet Portman specializes in residential and commercial landlord/tenant law, legal issues related to courts, landlords and tenants, and neighbor disputes.
