The relationship between religion and liberal-democratic society has emerged as one of the defining issues of the twenty-first century. Drawing together insights from political philosophy and theory, philosophy of religion, theology, epistemology, and metaphysics, Derek Malone-France argues for a fundamental reorientation of religious conceptions of faith and reframes the debate regarding what role, if any, religious justifications should play in public discourse and the law. Author Biography

Derek Malone-France is an associate professor of Religion and of Writing at the George Washington University, where he also directs the University Writing Program. His previous works include, Deep Empiricism: Kant, Whitehead, and the Necessity of Philosophical Theism and Political Dissent—A Global Reader, Vol. 1: Ancient to Early-Modern Sources & Vol. 2: Modern Sources, as well as numerous articles in journals such as Faith and Philosophy, the International Journal for Philosophy of Religion; Process Studies; the American Journal of Theology and Philosophy; and Teaching Philosophy.
