Summary

Faithful Change: The Personal and Public Challenges of Postmodern Life extends the discussion of the nature and dynamics of faith begun in James W. Fowler's earlier, groundbreaking work in books such as Stages of Faith: The Psychology of Human Development and the Quest for Meaning (1981). Here Fowler identifies three different sources and types of change (individual development, interpersonal relations, and systemic disruptions), discusses each of them in some detail, and shows how faith must sustain us in the midst of personal and social change while at the same time faith itself undergoes processes of change.
