Summary

This book is an introduction to the theory of argumentation, with special attention on the study of informal fallacies. It exposes the more influential models for the distinction between good and bad argumentation and discusses whether some theory of fallacy might be able to serve as a model for evaluating arguments. The text also analyzes the function of the traditional catalog of fallacies, the distinction between bad and fallacious arguments, the possibility of developing a theory of fallacy worthy of that name, and even the coherence of the exact concept of "fallacy."
