Summary

A wounded Atlantean prince ... a deadly battle between Dark and Light ... and the sisters Deoris and Domaris, whose lives are changed utterly by the magic involving them. These are the elements of The Fall of Atlantis, Marion Zimmer Bradley's epic fantasy about that ancient and legendary realm. On one side stand the Priests of the White Robe, guardians of powerful natural forces which could threaten the world if misused. Ranged against them are the Black Robes, sorcerers who secretly practice their dark arts in the labyrinthine caves beneath the very Temple of Light. Caught between are Domaris and Deoris, daughters of the Arch-priest Talkannon, trapped in a web of deadly sorcery -- the same forbidden sorcery that could bring about The Fall of Atlantis Book jacket.

Author Biography

Marion Zimmer Bradley began writing science fiction and fantasy in 1953. After many short stories and short novels in science fiction magazines, she published the first of her novels, The Door Through Space, in 1961. The following year she published The Sword of Aldones -- the beginning of her popular and monumental Darkover series -- which was nominated for that year's Hugo Award for Best Novel. A later Darkover novel, The Forbidden Tower, was also nominated for a Hugo Award, and a third, The Heritage of Hastur, was nominated for a Nebula Award. Her works set on the planet Darkover, which adroitly combine science fiction and fantasy, are so popular that for twenty-five years an annual convention has been held for fans of the Darkover universe. Her most popular novel was The Mists of Avalon, which won the Locus Award for Best Fantasy Novel, spent months on the New York Times Best Seller List as a hardcover, then repeated the feat in a trade paperback edition. It has sold over a million copies, and has been filmed as a TV miniseries. Ms. Bradley died in 1999
