Summary

Women are disproportionately affected by HIV and AIDS. By focusing on the pandemic at its epicenter in Southern Africa, this book explores the gendered power inequalities driving women's vulnerability to HIV and provides suggestions of how to individually and collectively address women's oppression.

Author Biography

Vicci Tallis is Programme Manger for the HIV and AIDS Unit at the Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa, South Africa. She has worked in the area of gender, HIV and AIDS in South and southern Africa for the past 23 years and was previously employed by the Association for Women's Rights in Development, Canada.
