Author Biography

Candida Smith, after a career as a dancer and choreographer, now serves as both advisor and curator for her father's work. Irving Sandler, art critic and historian, is Professor Emeritus of Art History at the State University of New York, Purchase. His four-volume history of modern American art includes The Triumph of American Painting and Art of the Postmodern Era. Jerry L. Thompson specializes in photographing sculpture and painting, and his work is in the collections of numerous museums. His other publications include The Last Years of Walker Evans (Thames and Hudson).
