Summary

English summary: In literary as in non-literary texts of the Renaissance, the blurring of boundaries between fact and fiction is a ubiquitous phenomenon. Beyond the narrow confines of poetry an increased incidence of strategic ambiguity can be observed that crosses, not the least, into theoretical discourse. In part this concerns directed forms of play, in part such phenomena is also due to the fact that texts inscribe ancient traditions and reference an authoritative text model. It is regularly observed that even here the commitment to facts from non-textual references is not always adhered to, and that those who provide "facts" stress their importance while concurrently distorting them. The papers in this volume are not primarily devoted to the detection of collisions between fact and fiction, but to the mapping of the gray areas in which the early modern period found so much pleasure. German text.
