Summary

Finding Foxholes is a refreshing look at WWII memories. It includes first-hand accounts from an American soldier who stormed Omaha Beach and traveled across Europe, and the tales of revisiting those European sights with his daughter and son-in-law decades later. This unique story explores side-by-side the anecdotes of life in war and reflections on those same moments through the lens of time passed.

Author Biography

Maybe it was the twenty years as a paralegal that prepared Faye best for the pure joy of creative writing. Material too was abundant from years of her dad's vivid storytelling and from her own experiences growing up in small-town America - Morgan, Minnesota. In 2004, Faye submitted "Russel Albrecht, The Soldier," to The Veterans History Project in Washington, D. C. - stories she compiled from her dad's narration of his experiences in Europe 1944 to 1946. Now, in Finding Foxholes, a WWII Infantry Route, Then...and 48 Years Later, she features those stories in her travelogue/memoir about a trip when she and her husband drove with her dad across Europe retracing the 1944 route. Her book in 2010, Gumption, Lessons on Old Age, Loneliness, and a Hotdish reveals that same resilient spirit of her dad, but in late life. Based on Gumption, Faye now engages groups in lively discussions on the subject of "Positive Aging." Long distance running is central to Faye's personal "health plan." While in Mexico, she was inspired to write "South of the Border," which was featured in "Cross Culture Running," Running Times Magazine, March, 2006. Faye has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota. She volunteers at Ambassador Good Samaritan Nursing Home in New Hope, Minnesota, and for Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon. She and her husband have four children and seven grandchildren, all in the Twin Cities area. She and her husband reside in Golden Valley, Minnesota, and for three months each year, in Manzanillo, Mexico.
