Find a centered moment of stillness and reflection. Flower Mandalas showcases more than 100 mesmerizing designs using natural materials.
Artist Kathy Klein deconstructs flowers and uses individual petals, leaves, and other natural materials to create mandalas with vibrant contrasts, textures, and shades of color. She also gives a tutorial on mandala-making, which offers insight into her creative process, and shares some of the quotes that inspire her work. Mandalas have been used for centuries as a meditative practice and are often created out of sand to remind us of life’s impermanence. The word mandala itself is Sanskrit and simply means “circle,” but it also represents the interconnectedness of all life and reminds us of our relationship to each other and to the universe.
Kathy Klein is an artist working at the intersection of natural materials, geometric patterns, and ephemeral art. Her work explores themes of impermanence, natural beauty, and the mathematical patterns found in nature. Through her Danmala series and other projects, Klein creates intricate circular arrangements using flowers, leaves, and other organic materials, celebrating both the precision of geometry and the transient beauty of natural elements. Her work has been featured in exhibitions and media around the world. She can be found online at kathyklein.org and on Instagram at @kathydanmala.
