Moral codes are imposed which control actions that may lead to accidental or unintended action-reaction scenarios, such as speeding or wreak less driving. It is a victimless crime until the unintended event happens, an accident. Then it becomes a victim related crime which could have been avoided except for the actions of a careless individual. While we may not think of them as `moral' codes but they are laws that definitely tend to or try to regulate behavior therefore preventing unintended consequences. The last variation of morality is probably the most difficult and yet most common of the problems we all face. "The Darned if you do and Darned if you don't" problem, the problem in which you find yourself "Doing the right thing for the wrong reason or the wrong thing for the right reason" or caught between the rocks and a hard place. Consider the following illustration: John and Joyce grew up together in a small little community on an Island and became engaged to be married. They were looking for a place to spend their honeymoon and were considering another smaller uninhabited island as that getaway. Phil, John's friend, was the island's only fisherman and had two fishing boats so John borrowed Phil's idle boat to carry some of the honeymoon supplies to the island, After John had arrived at the island, unloaded the boat, and was beginning to leave when one of those suddenly freakish storms occurred which broke the mast and sail, swamped, and sank the boat, John was barely able to swim ashore on the smaller island. After two days with John's failure to return Phil and Joyce scanned the island through a telescope and could make out what looked like a shirt fluttering in the top of a tree. In this area of the Ocean the waters were full of sharks and there wasn't a safe way anyone could swim between the Islands. Phil had always envied John concerning Joyce and had always wanted her for himself, so after three days of her urging Phil to take her over to the island and look for John, He finally agreed but only if she would "sleep" with him first. Joyce, in desperation, agreed and the next day she and Phil set out to find and rescue John. Except for a joyous reunion, the trip out and especially back was full of tension. That evening John asked Joyce what was bothering her and reluctantly she related the story to John. John replied "How could you betray me?" became angry and rejected both Phil and Joyce. Phil was ashamed and couldn't face either John or Joyce, and Joyce despised both Phil and John. Three friendships ruined, try putting yourself in each person's shoes, which do blame most? Why did you make that choice? Did you put yourself in their shoes before making that choice? What was your reasoning? After all, Phil lost a boat as well as two friends in the long run. Each one of us can look at our relationships in all facets of lives, even in the areas of business, and find that if we have focused on the letter of a law regardless of what the intent of that law was, or without understanding and tolerance we were probably wrong. I am sure that there are many situations that place us between a rock and a hard place. Many times it may be as simple as the struggle to survive with our reputations or our credibility intact. Morals based on rigid arrogance, greed, intolerance, and lacking in forgiveness aren't moral at all. It is for this reason that judgment should be placed in the hands of unaffected parties, an impartial judge, or perhaps a perfect God. The moral issues require a set of moral laws that in turn must be enforced by an organized, a legally designated authority or a `political' system. Without a big to do, Let us look at `politics' or political systems in light of morality. Many consider politically moral an oxymoron or without morals or merit, just political opinions.
