The purpose of the book is to provide the reader with an overview of firearm-related evidence from the moment it is deposited at the crime scene until the point at which it serves as a portion of the evidence presented in the courtroom to prosecute the responsible party or parties. This overview is intended to be comprehensive and thorough, examining firearm-related evidence from the points-of-view of the crime scene officer, investigator, examiner and the courts. For firearm-related evidence to be leveraged to provide the best possible information, it is essential that a synergy be developed among these different points-of-view. By discussing firearm-related evidence from the crime scene to the courtroom, the desire is to provide the widest and most holistic view of such evidence.
