Summary

The first edition of this book, published in 1991, rapidly became the standard text on forensic pathology. Bernard Knight is an internationally recognized authority on the subject, and this book reflects his enormous practical experience. This new, updated revision continues to emphasize the practical problems of performing post-mortem examinations for the police and other legal authorities, while offering a complete and detailed guide to the more academic aspects of interpretation and applied research. Amongst the new features is an improved coverage of many scientific developments, such as DNA markers, influencing forensic practice; and the addition of heavily supplemented sections on child abuse, head injuries and traumatic sub-arachnoid haemorrhage. The volume's accessibility has been enhanced by over 400 illustrations, many of which are new to this edition. Furthermore, the author has paid greater attention to the method of presenting evidence at criminal trials. Revised and expanded appendices on technical methods and normal anatomical data are also provided.
