Author Biography

California-raised and Ivy League–educated Sylvie Hogg first visited the Eternal City as a 1-year-old. Twenty-eight years and many world travels later, she is still convinced that Rome is the most amazing place on earth . . . by far. As well-versed in classical archaeology as she is in designer shoes, she can be spotted drinking prosecco at the Vineria, taunting visiting teams at the Stadio Olimpico, or—most often—gazing spellbound at the ruins of ancient Rome. She is the author of Frommer’s Irreverent Guide to Rome and has also written for numerous other American and British guides to Rome.
