Summary

The third volume of Sun & Moon Press's Gertrude Stein Awards represents new poetry published in magazines and books in 1995 and 1996. Like the previous volumes, this new one mixes major American poets with younger, unknown writers to represent some of the most exciting new poetry written within the past years. Robert Kelly, Barbara Guest, Anselm Hollo, John Yau, Charles Bernstein, Fanny Howe, Michael Palmer, Susan Howe, and Rosmarie Waldrop join younger talents Chris Tysh, Patrick Doud, Tessa Rumsey, Standard Shaefer, Ange Mlinko, Noah DeLissovy, and Loss Pequeno Glazier. Of the more than 100 poets included, about 90% of the authors in this volume have never appeared before in the Gertrude Stein Awards volumes.
