Bjrnstjerne Martinius Bjrnson (1832-1910) war ein norwegischer Dichter, Literaturnobelpreistrger und Politiker. Bjrnson verfasste unter anderem die norwegische Nationalhymne und war der Begrnder der Riksmlsforbundet. Nachdem er sein Studium abgebrochen hatte, arbeitete er einige Zeit als Journalist. Ein Jahr spter bereiste er fr drei Jahre Deutschland und Italien. Nach seiner Rckkehr 1865 bekam er eine Anstellung am kniglichen Theater in Kristiania. Danach lebte er bis 1875 wieder in Deutschland und Italien. Von 1880 bis 1881 bereiste Bjrnson die USA. Nach seiner Rckkehr 1882 lebte er bis 1887 in Paris. In Wort und Schrift setzte sich Bjrnson fr die Unabhngigkeit seines Landes ein und war politisch stets sehr engagiert. 1903 erhielt Bjrnson als erster Skandinavier den Nobelpreis fr Literatur. Einige Werke des Autors sind: Synnve Solbakken (1857), Zwischen den Schlachten (1857), Sigurd Slembe (1862), Arnljot Gelline (1870), Flaggen ber Stadt und Hafen (1884) und Auf Gottes Wegen (1889).
