Author Biography

Ellen Mayer's background is in early childhood education. She has worked as a researcher at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and as an early literacy home visitor with diverse and immigrant families in a Cambridge, MA public school program. In her work at the STEM education TERC Storytelling Math Project and with a writing fellowship from the Heising-Simons Foundation, Ellen developed realistic fiction picture books interwoven with early math concepts for preschool children. Ellen volunteers as a visiting children’s book author in her local public schools.

Brizida Magro is an illustrator and educator based in Boulder, Colorado, who grew up in Portugal. She teaches illustration classes at Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design. She has a passion for mountains, wandering the world, and bringing stories to life.
