Author Biography

Acclaimed nature photographer George Lepp, routinely puts in 18-hour days, and he does it with a smile, for he has achieved what many search for but few find: a career doing work he loves. Reflecting artistic vision, a profound knowledge of biology, and cutting edge technical expertise, Lepp's images have made him a favorite with leading photography magazines and such major equipment manufacturers as Canon, Kodak, and Epson, all of which have exhibited his work in their corporate offices.Lepp's career path began with a love of nature. College course work in the natural sciences provided a foundation of important knowledge, while the time he spent as a graphic artist in the U.S. Marine Corps enhanced his visual skills. He completed the package by attending the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California, graduating in 1972. Since then, he has captured images of nature and wilderness in dramatic locations around the world, including Alaska, Antarctica, Washington's Olympic National Park, the Galapagos, Yellowstone National Park, and Canada.Never one to keep his expert knowledge a secret, Lepp loves to encourage photographers of all levels to expand their expertise, and he regularly travels the nation and the world to lecture and lead seminars on nature/outdoor phtography and digital photography. To date, he has shared his expertise in two books about photographic tehcniques, Beyond the Basics and Beyond the Basics II, and he serves as a field editor for PC Photo, as well as Outdoor Photographer, for which he writes the popular "Tech Tips" column.
