Summary

Jointly written by an economist and a sociologist, this book reports original research from a major research project following the career development of a national sample of 1995 graduates, covering the full range of undergraduate courses, subjects studied, type of university and UK regions. It unpacks "the knowledge economy," revealing which graduates are able to access careers rather than jobs, and assesses the impact of higher education expansion on earnings, the occupations and equal opportunities at work and in households.
