Author Biography

NICK BRUEL is the author and illustrator of Boing!, Who Is Melvin Bubble? (a Junior Library Guild and Children’s Book of the Month Club Selection), and of course Bad Kitty and Poor PuppyBob and Otto, written by his father Robert and illustrated by Nick, was the One Picture Book/One Community selection for Miami Dade and Broward counties for the 2007-2008 school year. He is also the illustrator of Roaring Brook’s five Dick King Smith chapter books. His next book will be another Bad Kitty chapter book, Bad Kitty vs. Uncle Murray, from Roaring Brook in Fall 2010. Nick lives with his wife Carina in Tarrytown, NY.

Table of Contents

“The frenetic black-and-white illustrations are just plain hysterical. . . . Fun for all, especially fans.”—Kirkus Reviews

“It’s Bad Kitty’s unapologetic, curmudgeon nature that delivers the laugh-out-loud funny.”—Publishers Weekly

“Bruel’s fast-paced humor is just right for the beginning chapter book set, and the interplay of the text with the comic black-and-white illustrations ratchets up the zaniness level. . . . A frenzied fusion of fiction and nonfiction with plenty of appeal for young readers.”—School Library Journal
