Summary

Author Jane Brox grew up on a farm in the Merrimack Valley of Massachusetts which was purchased by her Lebanese grandfather in 1900 and worked by her father all of his life. After a long absence, Brox is drawn back to her home place by the siren song of family: her parents are aging; the farm, already suffering the effects of sprawling suburbia, now suffers the neglect of her troubled, ne'er-do-well brother.
