Summary

This highly accessible, manageable program appeals to instructors (including TAs) and students because it develops cultural competence and the ability to communicate effectively in Spanish given a wide variety of real-life situations. All components are fully integrated yet flexible enough to accommodate a range of scheduling factors, contact hours, course objectives, and ability levels. To make Hola amigos! easier for instructors to cover in two semesters, the text has been reorganized into fourteen lessons (with no preliminary lesson). The authors have also added more practice of possessive adjectives and moved coverage of demonstrative adjectives and pronouns to appear earlier in the text. Themes and contexts appeal to a range of students. Marginal annotations in the Instructor's Annotated Edition include titles such as Suggestion, Expansion, or Reference to Ancillaries to help instructors easily identify the purpose of each annotation. In addition a pair/group work icon and a cultural interaction icon help to streamline the process of integrating collaborative activities into class.
