Author Biography

Margaret Ross Peters was a niece of Harriet Tubman. Peters was taken by Tubman at from her parents, Tubman's brother and placed in the home of one of Tubman's friends. Later in life, the two women rejoined and much of the later part of the book is an account of their relationship during the turbulant period which followed the American Civil War.Eric Anderson is a nurse who serves part of the year in a surgical clinic for children in the very rural areas of Southern Ethiopia in Africa. During the torrid periods, he lives in a cabin on a moutain side in Sooke, Canada. A native of Oregon, Anderson left the United States during the turmoil of the 1960's and traveled the world, writing and working with the mentally handicaped. This is his first book length work.
