Summary

Explore the long-lived and powerful African American tradition of hoodoo.

Hoodoo is an empowering magical practice deeply rooted in ancestral knowledge, drawing on West African, Caribbean, Native American, and European elements. In this book, you'll discover the heart and history of hoodoo under the guidance of expert author Khi Armand. Along with learning the roots of the hoodoo tradition, you'll have the chance to practice spells, rituals, and exercises that will empower and inspire you:

  • Learn to prepare altars and sacred spaces
  • Use container magic and mojo bags
  • Harness the power of roots and herbs
  • Create candles, conjure oils, and more

With a deep grounding in the history and cultural significance of these practices, this book will act as your guide through the complex, powerful, and beautiful hoodoo tradition.

The Modern Folk Magic series offers accessible and engaging introductions to folk magical traditions from a fresh, modern perspective. Linking the current enthusiasm for magical practice back to the deeply rooted magical traditions in the United States and elsewhere, the titles in this series give depth and cultural meaning to the practice of witchcraft. These beautiful books serve as hands-on guides for learning and practicing folk magic, from authors who are experts in these traditions. Check out the other book in the series, Apallachian Magic.
