Author Biography

Mark Whitney Mehran was born in California and spent his early years raised in the southern California skate and surf scene. Mark Whitney Mehran ôMWMö attended school at Eaglebrook in Deerfield, and graduated Cate School in Carpenteria, California. MWM graduated with seven Varsity letters in sports ranging from Basketball to Cross Country where he was captain of the team. MWM attended and graduated from Brown University with an honors degree in English & American Literature. Mark's thesis, ôAmerican Prophecy: Faith and Visionö is available through the John Hay Library at Brown University. Mark founded HOT ROD SURF and Big Time Surf Shop after his graduation from college with lifelong high school friend John Pringle. MWM has also published and released original songs and recordings with his band 'The Green Leaf' inspired by Walt Whitman's ôLeaves of Grass.ö Releases include The Green Leaf ôGreen Leafö (full length album/Garden Records), ôRacer Singleö (limited edition CD single/ Garden Records), The Green Leaf ô2nd Albumö (full length album/Garden Records/Big Time Records), ôM.T.G.ö (full length limited edition red vinyl/Big Time Records/Kalifornia Killer Recordings), and singles ôCat Scratcherö (KKR), ôCalifornia.ö(KKR), and ôHOT ROD PARADISEö (KKR). The Green Leaf music is featured in the HOT ROD SURF mini Movie Vol. 1 which Mark directed, produced, and edited with Jeff Falk. MWM does all of the design, painting, and fabrication work for HOT ROD SURF and is currently living in San Diego with his beautiful wife Jeanine, four sons, three Dobermans, and a Siamese cat. MWM is serving a suspended sentence with non association clauses for violence related to motorcycle gangs.
