Summary

The House is set in a New York city apartment. New parents and their son suffer a loss when the great grandmother of the young boy passes away from complications brought on by cancer. The story uses nature as metaphor to inextricably weave grief and love together. Between the words of a creative narrator and those of the family directly, the story enlightens the reader about the nuance of perception and the beauty of life.

Author Biography

Meikle Gardner is a writer, poet, musician, and visual artist living in Brooklyn, NY. He holds a MFA in studio art with a focus on painting and a BFA in the studio arts with a minor in philosophy and religion. He was born in Clinton, Oklahoma and moved to Texas when he was three years old. He moved to Memphis, TN for graduate school and remained there for ten years except for two years when he returned to Texas to record two albums. New York City is where he currently lives and works.
