Summary

Rebecca Wilson's father, a beloved Union Leader and outspoken civil rights activist, is assassinated on the street in San Francisco. Rebecca is three years old. Her mother, desperate for closure and peace, uproots the family and moves to Bolinas, California, a small, coastal town of hippies, artists, and burnouts. Instead of finding peace there, the family continues to unravel-her brother turns to drugs, her sister to a life on the road, her mother is stricken with cancer. Meanwhile Becky, as she hurtles too quickly toward adulthood, embarks upon a quest to learn the truth about her father's shooting.

Author Biography

Rebecca Wilson was born in San Francisco and raised in Bolinas, California. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Scripps Women's College and traveled to Scotland on a Thomas J. Watson Fellowship. During her time in Scotland she published her first book, Sleeping with Monsters: Conversations with Scottish and Irish Female Poets. She lives in Fairfax, California.
