Author Biography

Julia Alvarez was raised in the Dominican Republic and emigrated to the United States in 1960. She is the author of the critically acclaimed novels Yo!, In the Time of the Butterflies (a National Book Critics Circle Award finalist), and In the Name of Salome, a national bestseller. She is also the author of Something to Declare, a book of essays, and two poetry collections, The Other Side/El Otro Lado and Homecoming. All are available in Plume editions.
