Summary

A biblical blueprint for effective communication that empowers men to express their emotions and equips women with the respect languages that help men be vulnerable in a healthy way.

Men don’t lack feelings. They lack a safe place to express them. In a culture obsessed with “high-value men” and “alpha status,” men often let their emotions go unprocessed. What looks like drive is a desperation that can lead to workaholism, infidelity, and addiction.

In How to Speak Man, Pastor Jerome Gay writes to men who are in a romantic relationship, or want to be, as well as to women who want to encourage their partner to be vulnerable. At the heart of the book is a practical framework that explains how men process emotions and what it looks like to open up without feeling weak. How to Speak Man helps men:

• Identify and articulate emotions they’ve never been given language for.
• Communicate honestly without shutting down or exploding.
• Understand why respect, rather than pressure, is the key to emotional openness.
• Implement ways to create healthy environments where vulnerability can thrive.

This straightforward call to godliness and true masculinity challenges men to stop performing and start healing—because they don’t need to “man up” to be who God created them to be. Men need the courage to be known, the strength to be vulnerable, and the security of knowing who they are in Christ.
