Summary

This fictional novel parallels a story from World War II, a saga based on a band of Navajo Marines called the True Whisperers. In this present era there is a small band of select women and men called ATA agents-Whisperers, hired by the President of the United States. These select agents come from different international organizations, each bringing unique skills to decipher anything within the global cyber network. What they uncover are encrypted plans by a new Al Qaeda terror group founded by their leader, Abu Bakr. Under the President's command, their charge is to reveal the heinous plot of terror directed against the USA by Abu Bakr. For years this Al Qaeda group has secretly developed home grown terrorist cells within the USA working toward their final goal-an unprecedented attack within our contiguous borders using a lethal toxin. As leads and clues unfold in different parts of the world, these agents follow the cyber footprints to reveal the target sights. Each ATA agent brings individual personal reasons for taking this job that adds intrigue to pique the reader's interest to unravel how their lives are caught up in this plot. It was fortuitous reality that an unparalleled event happened May 2, 2011 to mirror the actions and machinations within this fictional saga's plot filled with twists and turns. As with history's True Whisperers the American people will never hear about the heroic heights these few men and women reach to preserve our Freedoms. The Howl of the Whisperers...is silence.

Excerpts

The few stunted trees on Light's Mesa baked in the roasting sun with no relief from the gentle hot winds. Scorching heat distorted the near mountain cliffs. In the shallow flowing Escalante River Jak and his horse stood drinking cool water. "Chopper approaching." Kiva relayed from her concealed position atop a cliff. The helicopter circled before landing churning up the dry red earth into swirling dust devils. Jak held the reins to calm his horse. The pilot exited first, leading a tethered man behind him. "I need your gun, Jakob Swan." Barak shouted loudly. "You'll have to come and get it, Iturbe." Jak took aim at the pilot walking toward him, not certain his intent until he removed the hat and glasses. "Martin Pedrano?" Jak's phone vibrated...he read the text. "R safe N-base/RAT." "Be careful, your safety is still off and that model has a hair trigger. Rebekah is no longer his toy to get to you. What you do not see Jak, is your enemy is shackled." He tore open Iturbe's shirt to show explosives taped to his chest, his thumbs taped to his fingers. "Sit!" Martin pushed Barak into a sitting position of submission in the dirt, "it's all about control, right Barak?" Martin laughed holding up a detonation pack. Barak's eyes showed contempt to hide his fear. Jak couldn't read Martin's next move. "You think you have the upper hand, Jakob Swan, but do you really?" Barak shouted staring at the detonator in Martin's hand. "I have my daughter back safely and that means you lose...again Iturbe." "You won't kill me, I know too much and you want the identity of Abu Bakr and his powerful organization. You seem to have turned Martin Pedrano back to his primal origins." Barak laughed maniacally out loud. Jak's one thought, "as long as I have Marisol...I control Martin." "Why the charade, Martin?" "Tell your sharp-shooter out there you secured your target." "Under control," his order relayed to Kiva and Yurik. "We talk." The two men walked a short distance away Jak still holding his gun drawn. "I need the detonator, Martin." He tossed it to Jak. "It's a dud...never was live, but the explosives on his chest are real," casting a look back at Iturbe, "he needs to think it's all real until we get what we need from him." "It's not black and white, Martin." "Yeah I know." "When River took off with Rebekah, my hunch was Iturbe would fly to Light's Mesa. A search of the mesa found he concealed a chopper on the ridge. I waited and you know the rest. He's predictable up to a point." "He's right...we need him alive to find Abu Bakr." "Jak, I contacted a few of my reliable sources in Paris. Abu Bakr disappeared when he learned the biotoxin missions failed. Judah Mehta fled to Quebec days ago. Put those two facts together and it smells like Mehta is in Canada because he's waiting for something or someone. It's conceivable Abu Bakr will travel to Canada under a guise to meet with him. Mehta is one of the few who knows the identity of Abu Bakr and privy to all his plans. The two water targets were a phase to another end target...that much I'm certain. Only Mehta knows's Abu Bakr's complete plan of terror agains the United States. Keep tabs on Mehta, he'll lead you to Abu Bakr. If Mehta's out of the loop about what's happened here-if he still believes I'm Al Qaeda, I can bait him to get to Abu Bakr." Jak heard what he needed. "Martin is not traitor and I need him if we're to be successful unmasking Abu Bakr." Jak updated Martin, "our Canadian friends have eyes on Mehta." "The only way Abu Bakr would learn I've turned is if someone in ATA or FBI tells him. Did you keep my identity to just your inner circle?" "Yes, only three agents know your involvement. ATA's Directory Hanley knows you extracted Rebekah and the CIA sheep dipped your file." "Keep it that way. Abu Bakr won't make contact by ordinary methods. he'll have an unusual strategy to contact Mehta. Look for something subtly different in Mehta's daily routine." "What are your plans for Iturbe?" Martin asked. "He's my prisoner; solitary confinement at a place known only to me until this operation is finished. I promised a friend Iturbe would be theirs at the end of this mission. I never go back on my word." Martin checked the helicopter controls as Jak secured Barak Iturbe, gagged and hooded inside the helicopter. "Maybe you and I made the same promise to the same person." Martin smiled.
