Author Biography

Jeph Loeb is an Emmy Award-nominated and Eisner Award-winning writer/producer. In television, his many credits include Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Heroes, Lost and Smallville; and in film, Teen Wolf and Commando. He has written nearly every major comics icon, including the Avengers, Hulk, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Captain America, Batman and Superman. From 2010 to 2019, he was Marvel's executive vice president, head of television, in which role he executive produced multiple series for Netflix, beginning with Daredevil in 2015.

Artist Ed McGuinness came to prominence with his work on Harris Comics’ Vampirella and Marvel’s Deadpool. At Awesome Entertainment, McGuinness participated in a Fighting American revamp with writer Jeph Loeb, who would become a longtime collaborator. A short run on WildStorm’s Mr. Majestic led to a longer one on DC Comics’ Superman and the launch of Superman/Batman with Loeb. Back at Marvel, McGuinness reunited with Loeb for Fallen Son: The Death of Captain America, Hulk and Avengers: X-Sanction before launching Amazing X-Men with Jason Aaron. McGuinness has reteamed with his Deadpool scribe Joe Kelly for Spider-Man/Deadpool and with Aaron on a blockbuster relaunch of Avengers.

Since his beginnings with Ann Nocenti in Longshot (which earned him a Russ Manning Award), Arthur Adams has most often displayed his distinctive and detail-intensive art in miniseries or one-shots (including several Uncanny X-Men Annuals) — along with brief but memorable stints on Fantastic Four, X-Factor and other titles. He co-created “Jonni Future” for Alan Moore’s Tom Strong’s Terrific Tales, and Dark Horse Comics has published his creator-owned Monkeyman and O’Brien. Renowned for cover art at Marvel, DC and elsewhere, Adams has also illustrated trading cards, posters and shirts, among other products; his art can be found in toy design, film advertisements and a series of X-Men-themed Campbell Soup labels. Jeph Loeb’s Hulk series featured a string of issues in which Adams provided interior art.

Frank Cho’s quirkily irreverent Liberty Meadows strip became an international success during its 1997-2001 run. His Marvel credits include Marvel Knights Spider-Man with writer Mark Millar; Mighty Avengers with Brian Michael Bendis — as well as Shanna the She-Devil and Savage Wolverine, both of which he wrote and drew. With writer Greg Pak, he introduced a new jade giant in The Totally Awesome Hulk. Cho has won the National Cartoonist Society’s Award for Best Comic Book and Book Illustration, the Eagle Award, the Charles M. Schulz Award for Excellence in Cartooning, the Scripps Howard Award for Best College Cartoonist, and the Max & Moritz Medal for Best International Comic Strip.
