Author Biography

Kuthumi and Djwal Kul are Eastern adepts who have devoted their lives to awakening humanity to their spiritual potential. The little that we know of their lives can be pieced together from the work of their students. Kuthumi, also known as Koot Hoomi and K.H., was a Punjabi whose family had lived for years in Kashmir. He is believed to have traveled widely, attended Oxford University in 1850 and studied at Leipzig University in Germany in the 1870s. While at Leipzig, Kuthumi became acquainted with Dr. Gustav Theodor Fechner, philosopher and founder of modern psychological research. In later years Kuthumi led a secluded life in Shigatse, Tibet. With El Morya, he founded the Theosophical Society in 1875 through Helena P. Blavatsky. Through their teachings given to Blavatsky, El Morya, Kuthumi and other adepts revealed the ancient truths that underlie both Eastern and Western religions. They also sought to acquaint mankind with the spiritual brotherhood that works behind the scenes to help mankind grow spiritually. Under the tutelage of these adepts, Blavatsky wrote The Secret Doctrine, Isis Unveiled and other works that were instrumental in introducing Eastern teachings to the West. El Morya's and Kuthumi's letters to their students in the Theosophical movement are published in The Mahatma Letters and other works. Some of these letters are in the manuscript collection of the British Museum. Djwal Kul, known as D.K. and "the Tibetan," was the foremost disciple of Kuthumi and is said to have lived near his teacher in Tibet. He assisted El Morya and Kuthumi in their work with the Theosophical Society. In the late nineteenth century, both Kuthumi and Djwal Kul reached higher levels of spiritual advancement and became "ascended masters," enlightened spiritual beings who have become one with God. In the 1950s, they began working with Mark L. Prophet and later Elizabeth Clare Prophet to publish their instruction through The Summit Lighthouse. The Human Aura was originally dictated to the Prophets as a series of letters from Kuthumi and Djwal Kul to their students. Their instruction on many subjects, from the human aura to techniques for self-mastery, has been a source of inspiration to spiritual seekers throughout the world. Mark L. Prophet and Elizabeth Clare Prophet are pioneers of modern spirituality and internationally renowned authors. Among their best-selling titles are The Lost Years of Jesus, The Lost Teachings of Jesus, The Human Aura, Saint Germain On Alchemy, Fallen Angels and the Origins of Evil and the Pocket Guides to Practical Spirituality series, which includes Your Seven Energy Centers, Soul Mates and Twin Flames and Alchemy of the Heart. Their books are now translated into 20 languages.
