They also restate and reinterpret ancient stories (Medea, La Llorona, the Maya legend of Popul Vuh, and others) for modern theatre in our time. In the forward to this edition, Moraga speaks of the forces that moved her to write these plays, while in the afterword critic Irma Mayorga examines the politics of myth and location in the two plays.
