Summary

Within the field of early years education, attitudes towards information and Communication Technology vary considerably. Some advocate its increasing use on the basis of hoped for socio-economic benefits, others see it as entirely inappropriate, producing an impoverished educational experience for young children and threatening future health and social problems through over-use. The first section of this book discusses this debate and signals some of the challenges facing those who seek to spread the use of ICT further, while the second section looks at different aspects of ICT and their use within the early years environment.
