The main theme of India China and Globalization is development and its release is particularly well timed because 2015 is the deadline for the millennium development goals (MDGs). These were time bound targets that were specified in the year 2000 with the fundamental objective of addressing extreme poverty in its many dimensions. It is of foremost significance that most countries in the developing world do not even come close to having attained the MDGs and the reason for this is not the lack of capital.

Author Biography

PIYA MAHTANEY is a member of the Economic Reform Committee of the Indian Merchants Chamber, Mumbai, India. She previously worked as Senior Feature Writer at the Economic Times. She is author of The Economic Con-Game. She has also been a Lecturer at Wigan and Leigh College.
