Author Biography

Mike Clayton is a best-selling business author and management trainer specializing in management, leadership and personal effectiveness. He was a former Senior Manager at international consulting firm Deloitte, where his professional focus was on project management, and the integration of complex change for a diverse range of clients, including local government, through central government, to third sector and global businesses like BAA, Vodafone and General Motors. He is now in demand as a public speaker and is the author of nine books, including four in Pearson Education's 'Brilliant' series. He is a regular speaker and trainer to major companies and government groups including Big Lottery Fund, Learning and Skills Council, Action Energy, War on Want, Museums Association, Deloitte, CIPD, Business Britain and Astra Zeneca. His writing and seminars extend across many areas: project and risk management, advanced communication skills, personal effectiveness and, with his latest book Smart to Wise (Marshall Cavendish 2012), personal and professional development. Mike was a founding Director of Kent Trainers, a leading training provider in the South East of England where he served on the board as Training Director until 2011. Mike has also written a monthly column for Training Journal throughout 2007 and 2008, and remains a regular contributor as well as writing for other magazines. Mike is the principal author of the Management Pocketbooks' blog, the Management Pocketblog. Mike has a PhD, is an NLP Master Practitioner, and is affiliated to the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
